Jake & Sophia's Great Bike Trip!

Hello everyone! We are having an adventure filled time out on the road ... Yesterday, we rode around 130 miles. It was long and we had 5 flats ... ending in a 1 mile walk into Kayenta, AZ at 10:00pm. Now we are rolling on a tire with a hole in it about the size of a dime and 5 patched tubes that don't look too strong ... on the other hand we just ordered 5 new tubes and a new Schwalbe tire for my rear wheel for general delivery in Grand Canyon, AZ about 150 miles away. Wish us luck until we get them at the Grand Canyon... Well, we miss you guys and we are getting close to the end! As of now, the end date is Sept. 3, 2010!

Sign up soon as it does fill up. I'm sure we can figure out some sort of sleeping arrangements once we know who indeed will go. If you haven't done it before, it's extremely fun...

either the monon/white river loop, about 20 miles or ft. ben, 25 miles. no one will be dropped except for eric or kevin. both rides have optional training hills. starbucks on the circle at 11.

Broken steer tube on my Raleigh = replacement bike, this 1998 Bianchi Volpe. I'll work to get the Raleigh going over time, but I got this bike for about the price of a new fork and headset, and the Raleigh was in need of more so, to save a bit of money now, I picked this up and changed out the cables and handlebar/stem/brake levers/bar ends...

Jake and Sophia 2010 Trip!

We are in our last night in KS... one of the best things about this trip is the people and free accomodations. On the trail, people are so open and so willing to help it's unreal. We miss Indianapolis so much, but it has been a blast out here. All the nights under the stars in the city parks and the free pools and hostels... we are have already been able to learn so much from this adventure. Well, with only needing a new tire for the trailer and a new spoke for the back wheel of the Land Gear where looking good! Miss you guys and talk to you later :)

It was a great night at the Peace Creek Hostel! Thanks to Bev and Chuck we had a shower, a bed, and home made dinner and breakfast - this morning (at 5am!) we're having pancakes and eggs and coffee what more could you ask for? ... The people on the Transamerican Trail have been great, and so willing to help. :) Well thanks for the support everyone and thanks for the comments that you give. We love reading them. There will be more pics sent back for you guys this week. If there is anything you guys would like to see, just let us know and we will take pics for you guys and send them back....Thanks! Hi everyone! Today is Saturday 8-7-2010 we are about 300 miles from being half way and we are feeling great. Tonight, we are staying at Peace Creek Bike Hostel off of state road 95 ave and N. Raymond in Reno County, Kansas. We are hoping to get 90 miles in tomorrow and maybe make up the extra day we took in the Ozarks before we get to the Rockies... Kansas isn't all flat, but flat enough! Wish us luck and we miss you guys...
