I am thinking of doing a ride along the trails of Indy out to Fort Ben on Saturday around 10am .... Just wanted to make the post if anyone wanted to ride also..... Just post if anyone wants to join me thanks JP......
That's about 30 miles start to finish if I remember right. Either way I need to put in some miles so count me in. The forcast for this week says it should be dry so I expect the trail to be in pretty nice condition by Saturday.
Is this a 30 mile ride or a 60 mile ride? I am unfamiliar with this trail, is riding fixed gear with smooth tires OK on the terrain? Jake, do you have my gloves at your apartment that I forgot from the last ride? What is an expected return time?
It's 30 miles round trip. First time out I rode fixed no problem. You can do the whole thing in under 2 hours for sure, but I'm guessing there may be a bit of messing around here an there. Tackling Skiles Test and Boy Scout Rd. hills.
im might be going. last we did i did went on this ride it took 2 hours, with me slowing things down. i have to work at 130. i imagine we should be fine.
So, The Flying Cupcake Bakery is opening a location on Mass Ave. Tomorrow is the grand opening, and I hear there's a rumor that they will be giving out free cupcakes. Sounds like a good place to stop on the way back to Fountain².
Great Ride! Thanks for the introduction to the Fall Creek Trail!
For anyone who is interested in a bit of history and legend surrounding the Skiles Test Nature Park (the park with the nice big hill) and the House of Blue Lights,
haha...Amanda, that's so funny that you just posted that, because I just asked Josh why he called the hill the "Skiles Test". I recognized the name as the former owner of the House of Blue Lights but didn't know that the hill as the place of the house. So, I was thinking of "Skile's" in the possessive form - like Josh was naming the test of climbing the hill as the "Skile's Test"... haha - so thanks for the links on the history of the hill!

I'll be riding! This ride is very scenic - I love scenic rides. :)
ReplyDeleteWill we do the hills again? They were tough, but exhilarating!
Might have to bust out Maddie for this ride. I need to get back to basics. :-)

ReplyDeleteI want to go but I just realized I have to be to work at 1:00 in downtown Indy. Is it safe to assume we will be back by then?
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing that might be cutting it close. if time gets tight, you can head back. I'll ride back with you.
