Anderson Ride Part II

We are going to ride the 100 miles to Anderson again on the originally scheduled date, Saturday April 3rd (Easter Saturday). We will meet at 8:AM at the Calvin Fletcher Coffee shop at 615 Virgina Avenue. Half the ride to Anderson will be split between the Monon trail and the multi-use path along 146 street which takes us to Noblesville. The rest of the ride is along a 20 mile stretch across route 32. Our Anderson destination is the Bike and Boards bike shop, a vintage/used parts shop with a lot of old stuff.

It's a long ride but there are no big hills and we will be making several stops. There is no support car so bring water, energy bars and spare tubes. Anyone who did the Morgantown ride should be able to do this ride without too much trouble. No one will be dropped. Don't forget the sun screen. The overall ride will take between 10-12 hours. Hope to see you all there.

Brian

  1. Going to try my best to make this one. Weather is looking much more promising!

How is traffic on 32? Anyone have the exact route so I can map on Daily Mile?

  2. Dudes, with this being on a Saturday, and particularly on a Saturday that my wife is working, I think I will count in for this. Looking forward to it!

  3. P.S. Having ridden a similar century last summer (the last 50 miles was along this stretch of road coming back from Muncie), the main contender will be a likely headwind on the way back. Always seems to be coming out of the west in the afternoons/evenings.

  4. Taking the Google suggested route?

  5. Josh, thats the route. I'ts a little short so will have to do some riding in Anderson. The traffic on 32 is not to bad. It was not scary by any means even in the pouring rain. A group makes it much safer. When we did this ride before we took country roads the whole way and there is just no place to stop.

  6. We rode this same ride on Sunday and it was nice, the trails work well and 32 has a decent shoulder if you stay single file. It was fun in the rain, I'm sure it'll be great on a nice day. Make sure to stay hydrated and maintain a decent level of food intake. Good luck to you all and have fun.

  7. I don't think I'm going to be able to make it on Saturday... life happens. And I'm just not there physically this week.

  11. Ah. Awesome. They're just not posting here. I thought it was going to end up being just Brian and me. Ha. Thanks!

  12. Christopher, I know Linna and Kevin are making the trip. So, there will be at least 3 riders. You would make 4. We lost 2 others tonight. There is a possibility of one or 2 more but 3 or 4 riders makes a good size group for a ride of this distance.

  13. I am not going to make the adnerson trip. I had an incedent with a parked car 2 weeks ago and hurt my ribs and left knee. Wednesday morning I re-aggrivated the rib injury. I have been off the bike since then hoping it would improve enought to make the trip. It has not. I need a few more days rest. I'll be there in the morming with maps but I will not be riding. Like Josh says, sometimes life gets in the way.

  15. I've been waffling some because I keep thinking another full day to get some writing done would be nice, but I'll just say right out that I'll be there so I can't take it back. See you guys in the morning!
